AlienMSX, is an MSX1-based platform that tasks players with completing three missions and escaping the alien infested planet. The game stages are inspired by the script of the original movie.

Just past year we had the 40th anniversary of MSX, and this year is the 45th anniversary of Alien, which better way to commemorate it than with an unofficial Alien game for MSX? At least this is what Rodrigo Siqueira must have thought, and the result is the second entry on the MSXDev of 2024.

The game took a while to get here, the author followed the classic mantras of “it is done when it is done” and “a delayed game is late, but a rushed game is forever bad”, this game has been 4 years in the making, and the results are here for all the MSX fans to enjoy, and it even fits in 32K. AlienMSX stands as a quintessential action platformer, with a touch of metroidvania.

The game can be played with cursors or joystick and also features a code system to continue your game if you are playing it in a real computer without the convenience of save states. The game includes manuals in both English and Brazilian Portuguese.

20240517 update: the package now includes both a PAL and an NTSC version – the game adapts its speed accordingly
