From The Netherlands comes a very polished Sokoban incarnation, to celebrate the 40th birthday of the MSX game.
At the end of 1982, Japanese developer Thinking Rabbit published Sokoban, a title that would have a lasting impact on the puzzle game genre. Originating from the PC-88, it was a big hit in Japan and thus was subsequently ported to as good as any device that had the specifications to perform it – in some cases even televisions.
Surely enough, our dear MSX wasn’t left out in the porting spree, so in 1984, it saw the light. Many variants followed suit, even including a rendition by the illustre Microcabin. Arguably, Sokoban inspired games such as Eggerland Mystery, and many more.
Here’s when the latest entry comes intro play. Some Dutch MSX veterans joined forces to create a very polished and smooth MSX2 port of the game. It uses the MSX2 capabilities and even features an SCC soundtrack. For those not in the know, in Sokoban, you control a worker in a warehouse, who has to push around boxes to assigned locations. It forces the player to plan ahead, as the space in each storage room is limited.
With two game modes and a password system, we hope that you enjoy this new offering. The included manual will guide you further.
